The Cooper Davis Rise Above Scholarship
Each year one Mill Valley High School senior will be the recipient of the Cooper Davis Rise Above Scholarship. This scholarship is provided by the Cooper Davis Memorial Foundation - Fentanyl Awareness and Education. This scholarship will be given to a senior who has overcome a unique obstacle. The recipient will receive a one time award of $1,000. Included, but not limited to, examples of unique obstacles a student may have overcome might be:
Drug misuse or substance use disorder
GPA that suffered early on and has now been significantly raised
Loss/grief
Struggles with emotional health, anxiety, depression, etc
A period of time when you made a lot of bad choices, but then decided to choose a better path for your life
Each student applying for this scholarship needs to submit the application with responses to the provided questions, discuss their goals and future plans, and tell why they feel they are deserving of this award. Copies of the application are available in the Counseling Office. Please submit applications by April 26, 2024
J. Trenton Hughes KU Scholarship
Each year two Mill Valley High School students are recipients of the J. Trenton Hughes Scholarship. This scholarship will be given to two seniors that are attending the University of Kansas next fall. Each student will receive a one time award that is approximately $1,985.00. Each student applying for this scholarship needs to submit their application which consists of extra-curricular activities (both school and community), discuss their goals and future plans, and tell why they feel that they are the best candidate for this scholarship. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must be turned in by Monday, April 22nd.
Vision Care Associates Scholarship
SWE Scholarships support women interested in a Bachelor Program. Any student who identifies as a woman and pursue an ABET-accredited bachelor student program in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology, and fields related to engineering globally. For all SWE scholarships applicants complete one application and are considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible. Deadline to apply is April 15th.
Rotary Club of Shawnee Dan Cook STEM Scholarship
The Rotary Club of Kansas is pleased to once again announce our annual $1,000 Dan Cook Memorial STEM Scholarship, open to high school seniors who reside in Shawnee, Kansas and who are committed to pursuing higher education in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics related field. Pittsburg State New Gorilla Scholarship Program
Pittsburg State now offers an exciting her scholarship program that is SO MUCH better than before! We removed the ACT requirement, made it renewable for all four years, and are accepting weighted GPA scores for the first time! And it’s double or trip the amount of our old automatic Academic Achievement Award scholarships. This new program is effective immediately, even for 2024 graduates. This essay contest is open to all seniors that are Shawnee residents. The winner will receive a $1,000 college scholarship. They are asking applicants to think back to a positive, memorable day spend in our city of Shawnee. Describe what you did, with whom, places you visited in Shawnee, and what made that day so memorable! When referring to individuals, please use only their title such as Grandma or Grandma Lorraine. The application can be found on their website. The deadline is Friday, May 3rd at 12 pm.
The Victory Project - The Foundation of Sporting KC Scholarship
This $5,000 scholarship aims to recognize and support outstanding high school students who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, a passion for sports, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities. We believe that emerging sport leaders should have the opportunity to further their education and contribute to the sports industry. Eligibility: High school senior with post-secondary education plans; a 2.5 GPA or higher; Students whose lives have been impacted by the sport of soccer; Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to community service. DeSoto Teachers Association Scholarship
The DeSoto Teachers' Association is offering one $400 scholarship for two high school seniors (one at Mill Valley High School and one at Desoto High School). The criteria are essentially the best overall application on basis of merit and demonstrated need.

Rodrock Vision Scholarship Program
Rodrock Development is offering a total of $20,000 in scholarships to be divided among a talented group of young people who believe that the world can be a better place and that they can help make it so.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Be a member of a 2024 high school graduating class
- Live in a Rodrock community
- Plan to continue your education beyond high school (college, trade school, or other formal post-high school program)
- Complete a Rodrock Vision Scholarship Program application in writing and submit it no later than Friday, April 12, 2024
- If you become a finalist, appear for an interview

Horatio Alger Association Scholarships
The Horatio Alger Association seeks to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students who have demonstrated integrity, determination in overcoming adversity, academic potential, the personal aspiration to make a unique contribution to society, strength of character and financial need. National Council of Jewish Women (JCJW) Greater Kansas City Section Scholarships
These scholarships are available to all seniors in the Greater Kansas City area regardless of race, religion or gender. Selections will be based on grades and ACT scores.
